Dear friends of Tanzania,
Current situation in Tanzania:
Presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Tanzania on 29 October 2025. President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the CCM party, which has been in power since independence, was officially elected with over 97% of the vote. At the same time, violent protests against the election process broke out, particularly in the capital and other major cities. The extent of these protests has not yet been fully verified by independent sources. However, according to international observers and security reports, the situation in the country has largely calmed down and everyday life is gradually returning to normal, especially in urban areas.
We are in close contact with our Tanzanian partners. For our project work, this means that we will continue to monitor the situation closely while planning on the assumption that our activities can take place under the current conditions.
