Between Berlin & Tanzania

What started as journeys and encounters in Tanzania soon became more than travel—it became a shared mission. Through experiences on the ground, countless conversations, and close personal connections, we discovered our calling: to support education and sustainable development in meaningful ways.

Our Beginnings in Karatu

In 2020 spent our chairperson, Stephan, a year volunteering at a street children project in Karatu, Tanzania—a time that profoundly shaped his perspective on life and global inequalities.

During his stay, he saw first-hand the challenges many children and young people face in accessing quality education. Out of this experience, the first educational sponsorships were launched in partnership with local NGOs. Back in Berlin, these initial steps grew into a dedicated association, which has been actively supporting educational and development projects in Tanzania since late 2024.

Our Team in Berlin

Today, our work bridges two worlds: the daily realities and stories of the people in Tanzania, combined with the organization and engagement we bring from Germany—always with partnership, respect, and heart.

Stephan Auner

Chairman of the Board

Stephan lived in Tanzania for two years and knows the local situation very well. His main responsibilities include administration of the association, sponsorship programs, and vocational training projects. He has been working in the tourism industry since 2017.

Tobias Sachse

Board Member

Tobias loves nature and has been traveling the world since he was 16. He turned his passion into a profession and has been a dedicated tourism professional since 2008. Deeply moved by sub-Saharan Africa, he is now committed to supporting our work through the association.

Agripina Jastine

Project Communication

Born and raised in Tanzania, Agripina has an in-depth understanding of the local education system and the challenges many girls and young women face. Now living in Berlin, she supports our team with communication and coordination between our partners in Tanzania.

Our Goals

Strengthen education. Create opportunities.

  • Promote partnership-based development cooperation – through collaboration at eye level, long-term project support, and strengthening of local structures.
  • Support and connect local partner organizations professionally – for greater impact, transparency, and sustainability.
  • Provide access to school and vocational education for disadvantaged youth – especially in rural areas.
  • Promote educational sponsorships, mentoring, and safe accommodation (Safe Houses) – ensuring secure and supportive learning environments.
  • Empower and protect girls and young women – through education, awareness, and economic independence.
  • Support health education, sexual self-determination, and life skills – as a foundation for social and personal development.

Understand. Educate. Engage.

  • Raise awareness of global inequalities and colonial continuities
  • Engage in educational and public outreach on development cooperation
  • Encourage people to actively contribute to a fairer world
  • Ensure transparency in funding, projects, and impact
  • Create spaces for dialogue, engagement, and solidarity-based action

Partner Associations

We work closely with other organizations from Germany who are committed to improving education and social infrastructure in Tanzania. Amani has long supported a kindergarten and preschool in the region, while AKO focuses on larger construction and education projects. We maintain regular contact with them to exchange ideas and stay informed about the local situation.
