Empowerment Tansania

We are a non-profit association based in Berlin, committed to sustainable development in Tanzania. Together with our local project partners, we empower especially girls and women to shape their social and economic futures with autonomy and responsibility.

What We Do –
and Why

We support educational projects in northern Tanzania and work closely with a local NGO, schools, and colleges in the Karatu region. Our goal is to provide disadvantaged youth with access to education through sponsorships, mentoring, and targeted training. We place a special focus on girls and young women, who often face the greatest barriers – but boys are supported as well.

Because education changes lives: it empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and enables sustainable development. Instead of short-term aid, we rely on long-term support and trusted partnerships built on mutual respect.

Our Story

In 2020, our chairman Stephan spent a year volunteering with a street children project in Karatu, Tanzania – an experience that deeply shaped his perspective on life and global inequality. During his time there, he became increasingly aware of the specific challenges faced by girls and young women, especially in accessing quality education. This led to the first sponsorships and the cooperation with local partners. Back in Berlin, these efforts grew into our support association, which became fully active in 2024.

From the beginning, we have worked closely with Agripina, a native Tanzanian and dedicated member of our team. She supports our communication, translations, and women-centered programming, ensuring that local voices guide our work from the inside out.
